ASBAH is the leading UK registered charity providing information and advice about spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

Their involvement differs with each family or individual. Some of the more common ways ASBAH helps include:

A dedicated helpline
Support to families
Help for adults and young people
Information days
Education advice
Medical and health information
Publications
Research
Information for professionals

You can contact ASBAH on any matter relating to hydrocephalus or spina bifida for information or advice on everything from reducing the risk of having a baby with spina bifida, to independent living for adults with the disability.

ASBAH is here to offer its services to the whole spectrum of those affected by, or with an interest in, hydrocephalus or spina bifida – from before birth (with advice and support, whether or not the pregnancy continues), during childhood and right through adult life.

ASBAHs work is financed by voluntary donations, trading activities and grants from charitable and corporate trusts. They deeply appreciate the goodwill and generosity of the many individuals, community groups and companies who make it possible for them to work as a centre of excellence in their field.

ASBAH work in partnership with a network of independent affiliated Local Associations to share information and promote good practice, and also to deliver a range of high-quality support and specialist services.

ASBAH employs a network of advisers throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland who deliver advice, support and advocacy services.

Where does your Money Go?

Every penny donated to Waddle goes directly to both the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and ASBAH. For maximum security we use ‘Just Giving’ to manage online donations.

All internal administration costs are paid for by Waddle participants meaning no money is diverted from the charity fund to cover running costs.

Waddle has opened a multi signatree Club / Organisation Account for processing Cash and Cheque donations. This account will be audited at the close of the event by:

J.R. McKee and Co. Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors

What is Gift Aid?

Waddle can benefit from Gift Aid. Gift Aid is an easy way for charities to increase the value of gifts of money from UK taxpayers by claiming back the basic rate tax paid by the donor.

What did we raise last year and where did it go...

In 2010 Waddle raised a grand total of over £13k thanks to the support of all who donated and took part. All the funds raised have directly benefited children with both physical and learning disabilities.

With money raised on the Charity Diner night through a special raffle we have also purchased and presented a 2 man sea kayak to the Belfast Activity Center. The primary usage will be with the BAC Access-ability project and we hope that it will bring much happiness in the years to come for children of all abilities.
